On the reverse of the work entitled In the morning there is a dedication to the collector Herbert Batliner on the occasion of the latter's 6oth birthday. Weiler had been com-missioned to paint a portrait of Herbert Batliner wearing the robes of an honorary senator of Innsbruck University and an Aus-trian order of merit (cat. 219), and from then on the artist enter-tained friendly relations with the collector. The latter reciprocated by purchasing an entire series of works from the artist.
